We are stealing this thread, but at least we are admirers of the wonderful birds. The Beech Heritage museum has one on display without any cover. The complexity of its construction is absolutely a sight to behold.

I would love to own one, but unless Cousin Chuck decides to give one to one of his poor relations, it ain't gonna happen.

P.S. When I was "growing up" at the airport in the early 60's, there was one that sat in the corner of the hangar. I never saw it move, but it did occasionally. The FBO told me it belonged to a gentleman in a nearby town. He kept it hidden from his wife and used it to take short get-a-ways with his girl friend. I was also told that the wife found out about both, and then, the Staggerwing was no more.

I remember seeing this at LVK about 3 years ago and needing a photo. I promise I didn't drool on it. Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks Adam. BTW, I hear your great sounding TBone over the Danville area quite a bit. The only plane that sounds sweeter than a Twin Bonanza is a P-51.

I first rode in a Staggerwing when I was 3 or 4. A fella on the field here owned one, and I've been in love ever since. The most beautiful, awesome sounding, elegantly stylish, best riding airplane that Beech made.

And, Jim this sweet lady here is no exception. You have certainly given her the TLC she deserves. GLWS.

No reason NOT to have this plane.
We've done zero tail wheel check out and it went great.
Our training focuses on the huge value the ailerons (largest control on the plane) play in directional control on the runway. Call me. Bud @ 2395605465.

One of my most memorable flights was Longmont, CO to Evansville IN when I brought 47D home. Nice having six fuel tanks and 174 gallons on board if needed. Jim’s Staggerwing is a beautiful example of the best of Beech.

I say this seriously. There are two airplanes every true aviation loving pilot should own for at least a short time: the Stearman and the Staggerwing. To me, they are the icons of aviation. Strangely, although I have owned over 30 airplanes in my "owning" career, I have never owned either.

The problem is the hassle of buying and selling. This Staggerwing looks like a very well priced example. If it sits long, it defines the issue.
