If I could fly TDs well like JGG I would buy it. Gerald Buy it and call Bud Fuchs to train you in it. Guarantee you won’t wreck it. Kent if that ? was for me I’m loving it. D17 is fun to fly and take care of. Limited time on this earth. Fly it, share it….

We are stealing this thread, but at least we are admirers of the wonderful birds. The Beech Heritage museum has one on display without any cover. The complexity of its construction is absolutely a sight to behold. I would love to own one, but unless Cousin Chuck decides to give one to one of his poor relations, it ain't gonna happen. You feeling bad yet Cousin Chuck? Jg P.S. When I was "growing up" at the airport in the early 60's, there was one that sat in the corner of the hangar. I never saw it move, but it did occasionally. The FBO told me it belonged to a gentleman in a nearby town. He kept it hidden from his wife and used it to take short get-a-ways with his girl friend. I was also told that the wife found out about both, and then, the Staggerwing was no more. Jg

Jg Sorry for furthering the thread drift, but does anyone know of a situation where the above scenario did NOT end badly? Back to the topic... Man, that's a gorgeous airplane. Good luck on the sale.

Gorgeous Staggerwing. I love the angular graphics on these classic airplanes. Also noticed that "seller has an abundance of good taste": Attachment: Screen Shot 2021-08-19 at 3.36.59 PM.png

Gerald; No reason NOT to have this plane. We've done zero tail wheel check out and it went great. Our training focuses on the huge value the ailerons (largest control on the plane) play in directional control on the runway. Call me. Bud @ 2395605465.

Gerald, Ernie Persich, owner of Vintage Wings and Wheels at Hollister Airport. Maintains a great variety of antique and specialty aircraft. Ok, get that checkbook out

What a beautiful aircraft. 156 KTAS @ 65% power, 10k feet. 21 GPH. Jim’s will be an even better performer with the 12:1 blower STC (10:1 is standard on the R985).

I say this seriously. There are two airplanes every true aviation loving pilot should own for at least a short time: the Stearman and the Staggerwing. To me, they are the icons of aviation. Strangely, although I have owned over 30 airplanes in my "owning" career, I have never owned either.
The problem is the hassle of buying and selling. This Staggerwing looks like a very well priced example. If it sits long, it defines the issue.
