Great thread Adam! Thanks for sharing!

I have been looking at a Champ or Citabria for a while now, but want to get a hangar at a local airport with a grass strip. On waiting list. Could base one where we base the RG, but seems "wrong"...

I am planning on buying a Cessna 185 with a IO550 and a cargo pack in the near future. I have not flown a taildragger in 40 years and needed some practice. Adam and David were kind enough to loan me their new TOY. What a humbling experience when you "think' you already know how to fly. This is a great little plane, low time, metal wings, 180 HP, climb prop, double puck brakes, big tires and VG's. I call it the Little Red Beast because everytime I fly it the plane is just waiting for me to make a mistake. I should have done this years ago, what a blast and so cheap I can fly it with my lunch money. Here is the "red beast" in it's cave. I believe I will soon become a third partner because it's so much fun.

Come on in Jerry, looks like you have a car for me on the left and one for David on the right. That should cover it!

Nice video. You are SO ready for the mountain flying course in McCall now. Over the course of a day or two, you get to land at most of the famous Salmon River backcountry strips. Most of them are about 30 nm or so from us here in cascade. You can stay at the house

Adam thanks for taking the time to post these videos. Very cool airplane and it looks like an awful lot of fun. On my dream/bucket list that's for sure.

After watching Adams Video I used another Citabria today to fly to This short farm strip. Land over the pond and the fence , get down on the short rough runway quick because there is no go around ( one way in and out) and about 1,000 feet useable. Very interesting , fun and cheap. Idaho back country is next.

Cmon up Gerald. It's an easy 2.5 hour flight. Always a place to stay.

Fun with the Garmin VIRB. I ordered the prop filter but it hasn't arrived yet, so sorry about the banding. Also anyone have tips for mounting the VIRB on the wing strut?

Now THAT is flying. Ground reference makes all the difference.
I really miss my ultralight. We used to fly like that all the time.

Sometimes, on the way to Idaho, we put in on the deck in the middle of nowhere and scream along for an hour or so. Lots of fun.

I enjoyed flying Adam and David's Citabria so much I bought a 1/3 interest. It's just cheap fun for touch and goes or river runs. It's fun to just enjoy flying without watching 100 dollar bills go out the exhaust pipe cruising in the flight levels. The only negative is the 12 hour cross country to get to Idaho and back. Next I will try a 185 in the near future.

I never understood why my dad loved flying in my 152 or 172's until I started flying his TN bonanza. Up high going fast is one thing, but low and slow is truly "flying"!

Do you guys have 8:00 x 6 tires on your Citabria? They look bigger than that, just curious.
