I was comfortable in the DA42 as it was FIKI, the DA40 only had a heated pitot so I tried to avoid ice. Picked up ice clearing some tops at 12,000 ft and it flew OK but I was pretty nervous until it sublimated off.

This is really the future of light GA. Efficient, simple Jet-A burner with good performance numbers.
Don't get me wrong, I'll fly my T-Bone forever - if I can afford a turbine or really anything new I'm sure I'll do that, but I'll always keep the T-Bone for the pure classic fun of it and overall utility, cool factor, touring aspect (think airshows, fly-ins, Alaska, burger runs). And I expect it to be the family hauler for many years.
But this DA52 is really something. A fresh, innovative step forward.

GA needs a new twin for 2K and beyond. We need more Hollywood stars, corporate mavericks and sports idols to take up piloting.
The Beech Bonanza is a nice plane, for sure. Let's be honest, though. We love them. Not everyone has passion for something that has only been warmed over since, say, the 1970s.
In 2003, I bought a 2001 NSX. It was a great car, but not a supercar. Technology progressed. For GA to survive, it has to progress here too.

That is great that the CEO does the test flight. You can see how pumped he is after the flight. Bet his employees love working for a guy like that.
