Looks so awesome!
One of the first things I do with any new radios/GPSs is to turn off terrain alerts. The Aspen with synthetic vision cannot be disabled and the 430 has to be turned off each time. The 530W can be permanently disabled so it must have something to do with the WAAS upgrade.

I can see why where you live and fly.
Unable to disable on my set-up. Unless I disable SVT I guess.....

Some folks just don't get it!  ps. I fly a Skylane once or twice a month with a friend. I know all about them. I'll keep my Bonanza, thanks as it works better for the type of flying we enjoy most.

Great thread!
I never owned a Skylane but had access to a few. My brother owned two of them at different times. I always enjoyed them.
When I bought my first airplane (a Cessna 140) the relic local flight instructor was busily checking me out in it. During one reflective coffee break I asked him what was his favorite airplane.
His reply? The Cessna 182.
Asked why, he replied that it was the smallest Cessna with "reserve". I took that to mean reserve performance. When I later got to sample the 182's wares, I certainly agreed.
My favorite is the 1960 model - the one with the fastback and swept tail. Beautiful!
