Coming back from NC on Tuesday, I dropped into Atlantic City as my son had to pee. I've used the field a few times before and always had good service, but my heart dropped when I saw that it was now a Signature location. (I'm not a rabid anti-Signature guy, but my experience is that Signature generally has good service at very high prices, especially where they have a monopoly on the field, as they do at ACY.)

Instead, I got away with "only" a $10 landing fee, $5 infrastructure fee (BS), and 7 gallons of $5.67 avgas, for a total of just under $55. If you take out 7 gallons at a $4.75/gal figure, I only paid a bit over $21 for the pee stop.

That's not the screwing I'm accustomed to at Signature, especially considering the bile that gets spewed when you name them; the people were all very nice, good facilities, popcorn and water for everyone. If all Signatures would treat us the way ACY did, I'd think that was overall fair and I'd be a fan.

Agreed all signature locations are not the same. The most favorable way to look at the fuel delta is how much you need to take to avoid the higher fee. More realistically you often end up taking on more so as to avoid an extra fuel stop.

That said, I was happy with my last Signature visit (KBJC). Cannot say enough good things about the service and how friendly they were even though they had heavy big jet traffic.

Use it twice, and it pays for itself!

Large mouth Gatorade bottles are cheaper.

I'm not sure I want to encourage the discharge of urine by a 6 year old into a 1" diameter hole in a confined space.

We pulled it off with a 2yo and a water bottle this summer. Absolutely harrowing.

When was it not a Signature location? I haven't been to ACY in almost twenty years, but it was Signature the last time I was there. At the time I wasn't buying the gas, and the place was not very fancy (probably remodeled since then), but the staff was great and they let us park a POS crew car there.

Does a pilot relief tube even need the little piss-venturi in a pressurized plane? You'd think the cabin pressure would just push any liquids out automagically.

I can tell you from experience that the combination of pressurization and venturi is quite.... exhilarating.

It was Midlantic Aviation for a long time, then Landmark for a short period of time, and now Signature. I'm guessing it became a Signature facility about 2 years ago.

And it will ....

In 1983 we were returning from a windshield replacement on a 425 Conquest in CAE, they said not to pressurize for 24 hours. My wife had the 3 year old in the back, helping him use the relief tube....I was unaware, until she hollers, it won't go down. So I gave it enough pressure to use the tube.

Break...

I was flying a back up band in an E90 when one of the guys needed to pee. I described how the relief tube worked. He came up to the cockpit after a few minutes and said he was One with the Airplane..... :D

We were in Austin, Tx KAUS last summer for a week during the monsoon. I had called Signature to see what their ramp fees were and when I balked at the price the customer service agent told me to please hold on and to talk to the ramp manager and see what he could work out. I wish I could remember his name but anyway we stayed eight days for 100 dollars. Initially I bought 20 gallons of fuel. I bought another 30 on the day of departure due to the weather. When we tried to depart I was trying to sneak out between the waves of rain but didn't make it. They let us take a courtesy car overnight to the hotel, got out the next morning.
All this to say while the fuel was pricey(always is at a major airport) the service and treatment were outstanding. Now they aren't the only FBO on the field maybe that had something to do with it but I would definitely recommend them. Treated us wonderfully.

I'm with you on that one! And in my case, count on my wife ensuring I don't explode at my son if in fact he misses. $21 is a steal!
