Is it just me, or does anyone else think that main gear looks particularly ugly?

This may be with an engine failure at V1, that is, balance field length such that they can stop before V1 and go after V1 if an engine fails.

So while the number doesn't look particularly impressive, it might actually be quite good considering the conditions it is meant to represent.

Landing distance will be quite short as it is with any turboprop.

I think about 2600 ft. That's defined by my ability to takeoff afterwards, not my landing distance.

Carlson is based at KSQL, 2600 ft, so he regularly does that distance.

Cargo pods for FedEx

The gear looks fine to me. Lots of great airplanes have one like that, such as L410. Although, they are typically retracts, so I can't help wondering if Textron means to make a retract version later on if a large customer comes along. If they didn't, then something like Twin Otter would do the job and might be cheaper to make (up to a certain gross weight).

What I'm not particularly sure about is the arrangement where struts plug into the gear attachment points in case of a trailing link gear. Yes, very clever on a napkin sketch, but I wish I could see the numbers for trades against a cantilever wing.

Short splits the difference, BTW. It uses the same stub center strut for ground loads, but then gear extends outboard a ways. Someone didn't want to give the lift load any more leverage than was necessary. Maybe Textron is going to add some composite magic into the design :-)
