Hello, BT. I live in the 'burbs of Chicago. I started flying in 1984 at the Beech Aero Club in Albany, NY (Skippers, Sundowners, Sierras....ahh, good memories). I'm now 44 years old and hold a Commercial-Single-Multi-Instrument certificate (900 hrs). My dream is to someday own a Bonanza, but two young sons and a wife who doesn't like flying is hampering the dream. Unfortunately, I like all of them, so they'll be around for awhile. I've been lucky to have "pay for fuel only" access to a friend's Piper Arrow IV based at KDPA which has kept me flying on the cheap. Because I just can't shake the love for the Bonanza, I finally started the checkout process in a rental F33A (IO-550 upgrade) based at Clow Airport (Bolingbrook, IL). I would love to know if there are any other Bonanza sharing or rental options available for me in the Chicagoland area. Thanks! Great forum BTW.

Ryan, I'm sure you'll find some good options, but I'd start working on the wife. Slowly introduce her to the benefits of flying and try to work carefully to get her to enjoy it. That is your BIGGEST issue without a doubt. However, be very cautious and don't take her up in anything but perfect weather until she gets experienced, and when the time is right, do the pinch hitter course for her.

About 2 months ago, I finally got my wife back in the airplane....almost 17 years to the day of her last flight with me (the day we got engaged). I'm hoping to slowing introduce her back into the plane with a few short, perfect weather, family trips.
