Well, not every day, only in the spring.

It's the landings on the trailer that make the best videos.

Ross, if it was an Amphib it wouldn't need a trailer. :D This one is a Cub seaplane.

It's fun to watch that launch. I'm guessing the pilot has to be very precise with power and flight control inputs as the speed increases.

Duly noted and corrected. You would think I would know the difference.

We have so many lakes and warm winters here in Florida you never really see this kind of launch.

hangs head in shame

How would that work at a towered airport?

Pilot: Pontiac tower, Piper X holding short runway 27R , requesting departure northbound VFR, second request for my tow vehicle, he would like taxiway Delta back to Waterford.

Tower: Tow vehicle? Whut?

We could work that out no problem. But you should call the tower first so we're all on the same page.

I was there that day. It was at Y47 New Hudson Mi. I think if I remember right he does this every year. He lands on the grass in the fall and puts it in the hangar. Then in the spring he does this.

Company: Retired
Location: Dagobah
Aircraft: Millennium Falcon
Fall:
1) Land on grass on floats.
2) jack up on to trailer to take to hangar.
3) replace floats with wheels or skis or both for winter.

Spring:
1) remove wheels and skis and install floats.
2) put on trailer behind appropriate pickup truck.
3) start engine.
4) Pickup starts accelerating down runway
5) IAS come alive, power added.
6) fly to lake for summer mooring.

This has been a biannual ritual for a long, long time. It's even been done with Beech 18s.

And here is the same one landing - looks a bit "sudden".
