Why not just sell the 172 outright and then you can find the aircraft you want with cash in hand?
There is ALWAYS a market for a reasonably priced 172.

Hi Rick, I'm in the Dayton area and I think I know the birds you're talking about. PM me if you're still interested in them.... BTW, there's nothing wrong with the older Bo's. The panel is easily workable into a decent setup. It isn't going to be "standard", but it can be close.

There is a guy in Dayton, Ohio area that has several advertised on Trade a Plane, sounds like he restores them- think I may give him a call in a bit. Some of these guys buy totaled aircraft and mix and match wings, fuselage, empennage, etc to create a working airplane. They sometimes dress them up with fairly nice avionics to offset the damage history. There's nothing wrong with this as long as they know what they are doing, and the new owner accepts that there is often serious damage history to report when it's time to sell. I very nearly bought one of these from a dealer J.K. near Toledo, except that the plane was out of annual and it just seemed too much of a hassle to get it ferried to a mech I knew and trusted.
