I've owned a Bravo and really liked it but for me I think the K models (231, 252 and Encore) look after speed and efficiency the best. Because of the turbo you can get over most traffic and some weather.

In the Mooney line I have owned a “C” (145 KTAS on 8.5 GPH), “F” with Ray-Jay turbo (155 KTAS on 10 GPH), “K” (165 KTAS on 10.5 GPH) and an “M” (195 KTAS on 19.5 GPH). The F & K I flew LOP, the C and M, ROP. I flew the C around 8,000 MSL, the F around 10,000 MSL, the K around 12,000 MSL and the M around 16,000 MSL - on average.

I was at a conference recently and Jim McKelvey was one of the speakers. He's the co-founder of Block, and former St. Louis Fed Chair. In his speech, he mentioned buying a plane but didn't divulge details since the audience was not a bunch of aviators.

I was behind him in the food line later and asked him which airplane. It was an M20C, which he still owns today. (He flew to the conference in his Citation M2.)
