Chase - Your profile says Ohio...quick hop down to Florida and Orlando Jet Training. Really liked my time in the cockpit with Don Laughlin. Depending on schedule, I think he travels. Not my business, but since you bring it up...rushing training to keep the wife happy is not a recipe for success. Goes WAY better if you're 100% focused.https://orlandojettraining.com/https://arizonatyperatings.com/

					| Thanks for the recommendations. I spoken with Arizona Type Ratings and they sounds like a fantastic group! They are willing to come to me and then when my in aircraft training is complete, we would fly to AZ to do the checkride.
For the record, I never said I was interested in rushing my 501 training. I don't want to proceed with a checkride until I am well prepared. I just don't want to disappear for 2-3 weeks at a time and leave my poor wife with a newborn and 3 other kids. I prefer to be home in the evenings as much as possible.

That totally makes sense, just didn't want to see you sabotaging yourself. When do we all get to see your Citation?

					| Going in for prebuy next Monday. I hate to put it out there until it’s a done deal but rest assured, I will be a proud new 501 owner when we close!

I did my initial in 4 days of training and took the checkride on the 5th day. I did a good bit of studying and prep ahead of time, so I already understood all of the systems and had all the memory items memorized going in.

You can't do it faster at Flightsafety. They design the schedule around the lowest performing student, and that it typically not the dedicated owner flown pilot. It was slow, particularly ground school. Quote: I did my initial in 4 days of training and took the checkride on the 5th day. This is realistic for in airplane type rating if you are solid on instruments, can fly numbers, know your memory items, and have systems down. If you aren't all of the above, get that way before starting. I think the sim type rating is the better way to go due to the more controlled learning and abilities to do emergencies better. I just wish they would speed it up. Mike C._________________

					| Username Protected wrote: What is the typical timeline for a new type rating in the 501? 5 days for in-airplane - 4 days of training and 1 day of checkride. I chose to do my initial as a crew as I knew I was going to be flying with a mentor pilot. This took a lot of the pressure off of my checkride as I had my instructor sitting next to me and was able to help me as a crew-mate. They set up approaches, handled checklists, and did some of the radio work. That allowed me to focus on flying the plane to standard. That meant that my initial type rating had "SIC required" on it. Once I was comfortable I went back and did the checkride single pilot and had the limitation removed.

That’s reassuring to hear. The biggest hang up for me making the move to a 501 right now is budgeting the time to get the type rating. It would be tough to be away from home for 2 weeks.
