Oopsie.

Looks like whatever they thought the problem was on flight 7… it wasn’t. Either that or they didn’t do enough to fix it.

It was “an energetic event in the aft portion of” Starship 8.

I still struggle with the concept of catching something that big with the chopsticks. They only have two pins on the side of the rocket and for me that is one of the most puzzling of the catch. You don’t see the rocket spinning around to align itself with the tower. Somewhere much higher up they already have it align with the chopsticks but how do they have the precision? Sure GPS , INS, etc but like I said I have seen no last minute turning of the rocket body to align the pins to the chopsticks.

What’s the carbon footprint when they flame out a 787 and put 250 people in the drink?

Who’s “they”? That would be on the crew of the 787.

They use lidar, and if you look at some footage the ship isn't actually centered and the arms move different distance.

The rotation of the ship is another thing though, it does look like some magic is happening way higher

I think I recall 4 fins on the sides, so at any rotation there should be contact with the chopsticks.

Juan’s video is worth watching for those who are doing Caribbean operations and anyone crossing the Gulf of America.
