Therefore, the AP doesn't need to work with the Primus. It just needs to exist so there is a path to a full avionics retrofit, both AP and radios/nav/EFIS.
This is back to the irony that Genesys getting their autopilot done will increase Garmin sales elsewhere on the panel.
Phil Yes, two separate issues. Genesys wants to make their autopilot work with the Primus system as a stand alone solution. They are already integrated into the G600 system with the V, so that will be an easy switch when and if Jet Tech gets approval to remove the Primus 1000 system.

There’s such a gap between new and legacy aircraft that we typically see two very different buyers / mindsets.
I don’t see any effect from legacy aircraft on new and I think you may see softness in the market for late model CJ4’s since the new ones are Garmin, but even then, most CJ4’s are pro flown, so the owner doesn’t typically care about the panel and some of the pilots prefer PL21. I'm curious, Chip, if the original question is the reason why the G1000 STC for the original CitationJet just.... died out. My understanding was that it was a game-changer for that airframe but they only converted about ~30 of them then just stopped. Was it a threat to the M2 or something?
The STC is held by Textron and they have orphaned it. The general consensus is that they did so intentionally to protect sales of the M2 and CJ3+ and that may be the case.
I would not be surprised to discover there's actually more to it than that.
I actually think that having the G1000NXi available for all 525's would help new sales for the very reasons Mike C stated. If Textron brought the STC back and only offered it through their service centers it would be a heck of a revenue stream.
Two likely issues from Textron's viewpoint, they're selling all the new airplanes they can build anyway and they don't have the capacity in their service network to install multiple G1000's.

What people want is to remove Primus 1000 entirely. The only missing piece is a new autopilot, everything else is already available assuming Jettech or Blackhawk extend their STCs to cover the Primus planes, which should be pretty easy. Mike C.

Yes, I corrected my statement in my last post.

Garmin will release their autopilot and avionics suite as a single package for those airframes, and it most likely would not be economically feasible for a third party to get access to that solution. Genesys needs to partner with Jettech or Blackhawk so their STCs get expanded to Ultra and Encore in conjunction with the Genesys autopilot. Then the Genesys autopilot does become a viable Primus 1000 replacement option. I was under the impression Jettech was involved with Genesys at one time, but that seems to have broken down. That's bad news for both companies so they should figure out how to proceed together. Mike C.

The STC is held by Textron and they have orphaned it. The general consensus is that they did so intentionally to protect sales of the M2 and CJ3+ and that may be the case. This. Remember Ron's got a boss too and job #1 of any public company is Return Value to Shareholders, NOT do what's best for the community. https://investor.textron.com/investors/ ... fault.aspxHe's just head of a business unit, it may not even be 100% within his discretion. And the parent company is pretty stodgy/ripe for disruption if the Govt/FAA ever allowed it. You can vote with your wallet, I hope they figure out their best customers are existing customers and the right thing for a community can also be the best for shareholders.

I also heard that maybe Garmin was working on a STC to use the G3000 to replace the Primus avionics in Ultras, Bravos, and Encores. Robert T

Has anyone heard any update on the Genesys autopilot for the 500 series?
