I remember seeing the engine test bed for the Lear 35. It was a 20 series Lear with the original cj610 on the right and a tfe 731 on the left. Looked crazy at first but the experimental and restricted labels on the side gave it away.

I saw a picture of it one time many years ago and thought it was super cool, although I’ve not been able to find a picture of it since. Would be cool if a picture would resurface!

The 747 can carry a fifth engine inboard of number two on a pylon, but it's for ferry of the engine, not for use.

A friend of mine flew one back then (not Kalitta's) and said it was a pig, same engines as a LR24 but weighed about 4000 lbs more. (guestimate). My old boss flew the Hansa for Connie for a while. He said the exact same thing about the performance. He did add that it was super easy to fly.

Tj Yes, the Corvette, back in 98' out of PDX (Portland, OR). I was at the then FlightCraft FBO when this guy decide to try this. Couple pilots/mechanics tried to talk him out of it, no luck. I was preflighting the Merlin III when the accident happened. They survived. Sad loss of a cool jet. Russell

I found a photo of the Cessna 650/Allison testbed online. I could not get either the photo or a link to insert properly. Mr. Google should be able to find it.
