this...

if I was buying it to use as Part 91 only, and knew I'd never sell it, I'd defer some of the items and never look back. i.e., you could add a year (or 2, or 3) onto the gear actuator OH, and while it may not seem like a big deal, you could reduce your "cost" then by 10-30%. you could do the same on starter generator OH (there are some shops that will do it for less). there are a handful of other items that would save you some $.

our annuals were no where near $40k. both have been at Daher Service Ctr's. one was an A+, the other a B+.

edit for spelling...

I’ve owned both. They are both great airplanes. The Meridian wins for me hands down. Cheaper to fix. Cheaper to operate. More efficient over all.

The only thing I miss about the TBM is the range.

So how much were they?
Buddy did one on his B model not much was due pretty simple was 20 something after some elections and defers on some things he wanted but didn’t need - then just traded it for an 850

Isn't the C inspection the big one? I hope for your sake it doesn't, but your perspective may change soon.

My $20k annuals defer very little to nothing. If it's safety related I have it done. Actually, I can't think of anything I've deferred off the top of my head.

Yes, C is the most invasive and the most shop time.

Annual inspection is 30 hours
A inspection (flat rate) adds 29 hours
C inspection (flat rate) adds another 42 hours.

The cycle is A-B-A-C. In the C year you have 100 hours of shop time for the inspections. That does not include any parts, repairs or life/cycle limited items.

The + after the inspection refers to the special checks due at that time (I think).

Sounds like the M600 would be perfect.

The + just means that the A/B/C inspection also satisfies an annual, it does not add any inspection time. I can't see why an annual would be a different price than an A/B/C inspection done at the same time. My service center has not charged extra for a +.

At that price point, PC12 all day.

M600 and PC12 are not the same price point. You'd be comparing a used PC-12 to new M600 with warranty, auto-land, G3000, etc.

PC-12 and TBM are close in operating expense.

I have no doubt the Meridian or MX00 is less to operate. but it's a completely different ship.

Sean,

It appears your flying a Baron right now. If that that is the case you might be surprised by the Meridian operating cost. I agree with others the TBM will be more to operate and with old avionics and more time on the engine since hot inspection when comparing 1M to 1M airplanes.

I moved from an A36 after 30 years to a Meridian this spring, wished I could have done it sooner. I don’t you will be disappointed with either choice.

Joe

Here is your basic med meridian. 240 knots on 294 pounds per hour. 44 gph. So three hours flight time + IFR reserves, a little over 700 nautical miles. Not too bad, especially when jet fuel is just a little over three dollars a gallon with cards, and you get turbine reliability.

I shied away from the Meridian because it had very low payload with full fuel. If you’re carrying more than two folks 800 miles, it was on the edge. More or longer meant a stop.

What can you buy an M600 for? Less than a new PC12. However if I’m spending that much coin I’m going preowned PC12NG all day. After all it is my Monet I’m spending.

Short flight today, at basic med altitude of 18,000. 268 Knots at 330 pph, 49 gph. I think the M600 may be the most awesome basic med aircraft. At that fuel burn, would have 1200+ nm with IFR reserves.

And what other basic med aircraft might you hear in the terminal, please slow for the airbus in front of you, you are 80 knots faster ;-)
