Twin Mustang never did a thing for me.
Fugly.
Two headed freak at the circus.
If you gave it to me I'd sell it the same day.

how much chance is there that it sells at this price?

If I were Paul Allen (and I were alive) I'd be writing the check. I don't think they'll have a hard time selling it at all. Plenty of people who can drop 0.012 billion on a cool toy that NO ONE ELSE HAS

The amount of work that Tom and his help put into that it is way undervalued.

I think it is waaaay prettier than by a million fold then you Arnie.

Currently reading "The First Team Pacific Naval Air Combat from Pearl Harbor to Midway." by Lundstrom. It goes much more into the actual squadron members, plane capabilities etc. in the early battles. Kinna interesting to see the Wildcat had 160 gallons of fuel and compare some of those birds to modern ones.

You guys need to think bigger. I've been around people who visit our community and $12M to them doesn't even garner much thought. It is amazing how much money there is out there, not just in the US. We regularly get jets from Europe with 2 to 4 guys here just to play golf. One of our semi-regulars keeps a $250K car here for his visits a half dozen times a year - well he used to keep it here - now they pick him up is his helicopter and fly him 12 miles to his estate. He arrives in Aiken on one of his 2 GV's or if he's slumming his Vision Jet....

Nice guy. His body guard looks like a force not to be reckoned with...

Peace,
Don

In 1943 no one knew how the island hopping would go. The B-29 was already in production and they wanted a Very Long Range fighter to escort it. This was the practical fighter NAA came up with. Wasn't about looks, just creating something that would do the job.
As it was, post war one flew from Hawaii to New York non stop and without refueling. Today Betty Jo is displayed in the USAF Museum.

There is a B-17 reported for sale for more than this according to the rumors.

If I were that rich, I’d hire a better body guard. The last guy I’d want protesting my pink butt is someone the bad guys don’t need to reckon with.

I'm not convinced that the exotic car market tells us much about the exotic airplane market. Seems like if it did, there'd be no ceiling for prices on pristine WWII aircraft, yet they top out around $3M.

I can remember when You could get a decent Ercoupe for under 5K, the max price for a restored J3 was 10K and you could buy a fly home P51 for under 100k and I am still years from drawing social security.

To put 12 measly million in perspective to the Billionaire class, Bezos reportedly earned 13 Billion in one 24 hour period. He could buy this aircraft for 1 minute and twenty seconds of that revenue without even negotiating a better price.

My only argument against buying it is a normal P51, purely subjectively, would be twice the fun for 1/6th the price.

And despite having bucket loads of the right tailwheel experience I'll, sadly, almost certainly never get my hands on one.

But I can dream....and watch aero porn P51 and Spitfire videos instead.

Dad flew them both while in the RAF (Spitfire) and later RAAF (P51) as well as F4U-7 and Bearcats in combat for the French in Indochina in between RAF and RAAF - lucky barsteward.

I need to move a Mustang for friend who passed away.

Doug - I am sorry to hear that you lost a friend and fellow Mustang pilot. May she/he/they rest in peace.
