I think that's fine for the first call but if you do that with every single call then it clutters up the airtime and does nothing to improve communication, smooth traffic flow, or anyone's safety. Yep, it’s an AIM thing and an FCC thing.

So how does "Red Cessna on base" work when there are 2 or more red Cessnas?

Bout the same as “Skyhawk 12345 turning base” when there are four Skyhawks and two Skylanes in the pattern. I still have no idea which is which and just look for a plane on base if that’s important to me where I’m at.
