I have also considered this. I can not give up the baggage space. Well maybe I would if the engine quit? Too late.

I like the idea, and it might even enhance resale value; a plane with a parachute. The repack cost is unreasonable for me, and as for the $20K initial cost, I have a Continental powered 182 and could easily get a $20K surprise during an annual, so I need to be prepared for that possibility rather than spending it on a chute.

Thanks for all your information Keith, it's a tempting upgrade.

Old thread but do you know of any air conditioning options if you install BRS in any Cessna 182 models?

The Arctic Air portable real AC unit would fit. Would take up all the remaining baggage space. I have one in my Bonanza. Works pretty good for the cost.

Makes sense as it's rally like a half engine. :7)

Curious as to future maintenance. How frequently do the cord cutters, rockets, shoot repack need service in this application?

Wondering if it's the same as a SR-22>

Yes, I believe that it is the same inspection/repack program as the SR22. It may even be the same chute just with different connection straps for the Cessna.

One thing I am not certain of is if you must do the inspections. Since this is add on, some have said that you could mark it inop and avoid the repack. I am not certain that is the case.

Jon:

I am not certain, it would be best to call BRS to check.

The 182RG is not certified for the chute, so the undercarriage must be important to the STC.
