Here are some Whelen Aerospace Technologies (WAT) solutions for vintage Beech single engine airplanes. Many Beech airplanes, like mine, have been modified (I have later model V35B wingtips on my 1960 M-35) and may require a custom touch. So, I am here to help you figure out what you need! 1. If your aircraft is used for hire (flight instruction, charter, etc.), and a required position light, anti-collision light, or landing light fails, that can render your aircraft unairworthy until that light is replaced. WAT LED aircraft lighting is much more reliable, has a longer warranty if it does fail, and will guarantee more up time for aircraft that are used by a business. During the winter months, when there is less daylight, it is critical to have a functioning lighting system.
2. See and be seen! WAT LED lighting is much brighter than traditional and older aircraft lighting.
3. Reliability. WAT LED lighting is much more reliable than older aircraft lighting.
4. Save your electrical system! If you are running a 14V electrical system, changes are when you turn on your PAR landing light, it puts a significant load on your electrical system. If you use a generator and you are operating on the ground, you might as well keep that taxi light off. With WAT LED landing and taxi lighting, it will significantly reduce the load on your current electrical system and allow you to run the lights at all time if you choose.
5. It freshens your aircraft up! Let’s be honest, LED lighting on airplanes looks way cooler and it helps to freshen the look of your vintage or classic airplane. The average age of a general aviation airplane is coming on almost 50 years old and this is a fantastic way to keep these classic airplanes young.
