Arrived in Aspen last night. Saw this flier on FBO counter. They are not allowed to opposite direction departures anymore. You have to request a VFR climb or you will hold till there is no one inbound.

Probably not so bad for all the private operators.

Can the 121 guys take a VFR departure? Or will there just be a pileup of airlines while all the private guys squirt out VFR?

Probably depends on company policy. SWA used to request VFR climbs out of ELP straight west over the mountain.
