BT Brethren,

Can anyone with experience or knowledge please share a good place for TBM initial training. Im being quoted 10K and 6 days? I strongly believe in training. Yet I am a seasoned ATP with quite a bit of time and the cost and the 6 days of time seem a bit much.

Simcom is less than $10k.

Lots of good instructors listed on TBMOPA including those Michael listed. Since you are highly experienced you undoubtedly have trained in Sims before and know their value. As a much less experienced pilot I found Simcom valuable in addition to the in aircraft training I did. The cost of training was not cheap but a small expense in the whole scheme of things.

Personally I've not flown with Walt but is supposed to be excellent. His old partner did my transition and it was similar to what you mentioned. John Elford is his name and I'd highly recommend him for intitial. He wrote the program for flying the TBM and MX at simcom back in the day. Knows things walking around the plane that will amaze you I'd bet. Even if you go to Simcom for initial I'd guess that you will still need an in plane checkout. I'd go to simcom after six months for a two day recurrent. Call John.

I agree with Chuck. I are not flown with John but have only heard great things. I like training in my own plane. I have not been to simcom......will probably go next year. The preflight with these guys is quite impressive. I learn something new every time.
