How about a Citation 525 with 600 lbs more useful load and 120 gallons of additional fuel with a range over 1600 nm!

Here's an excerpt from a letter than went out through CJP.

"The Raisbeck EPIC Package for the CJ thru M2 would provide an increase in their Full-fuel range by 340-470 NM AND simultaneously increase its payload by 600 Lb. (3 additional passengers). Because of new fuel tank placement, pilot-alone full-fuel nose ballast is eliminated. They would thus will have more payload AND range than the larger CitationJets (CJ2 thru CJ3+), and a better ferry range at the same time.

Current Raisbeck Engineering CFD analysis shows an overall drag reduction, including fuel tank shaping and several simple individual items, of an increase in cruise speed of up to 10 Knots. This will help in carrying the extra fuel/passengers, but has not been included in the current payload/range analysis"

Chip, I just check CJP site, I didn't find anything there on this subject?

It came as a marketing email from Raisbeck to CJP members.

There is no discussion of it yet on the Forum there.

Is it an extra 600 pounds of useful load or payload? Either way, I bet this pushes these planes back into consideration for a lot of people. It seems like the lighter Cessnas often come up just a little short of range and useful load when the BT jet jockeys are discussing their next ride.

Discuss:

PROGRAM GOALS – Raisbeck EPIC Performance System for the Cessna CJ-M2 Family
1. Increase usable fuel by at least 800 pounds;
2. Increase Tanks-full payload by 600 pounds;
3. Remove requirement for single-pilot ferry flight nose ballast;
4. Increase Max Takeoff Weight, Max Zero-Fuel Weight, and Max Landing Weight to accommodate;
5. Provide CJ-M2 operators with Payload/Range capability greater than CJ3+;
6. Increase normal Cruise Speed by 10 Knots thru drag reduction;
7. Keep all-up installed price under $500,000.

PROGRAM GOALS – Raisbeck EPIC Performance System for the Cessna CJ-M2 Family

2. Increase Tanks-full payload by 600 pounds;
3. Remove requirement for single-pilot ferry flight nose ballast;
4. Increase Max Takeoff Weight, Max Zero-Fuel Weight, and Max Landing Weight to accommodate;
5. Provide CJ-M2 operators with Payload/Range capability greater than CJ3+;
6. Increase normal Cruise Speed by 10 Knots thru drag reduction;
7. Keep all-up installed price under $500,000.

OVERVIEW
Our Preliminary design studies on the CitationJet family are complete. Feasibility studies of structure, fuel systems, drag reduction over the past 12 months has allowed us to conclude that payload/range of the tanks-full range of the CJ-M2 family can be increased to be greater than that of the CJ3+, while at the same time more than doubling the tanks-full payload. Decreased drag also allows for a ten knot increase in cruise speed at equal weights. All FAA Takeoff, Climb, and Landing performance remains reasonable. The summary graphs are attached. Because the location of the added fuel is proprietary, no 3-view drawings of the new configuration is included.

DISSERTATION
The new selling price of the M2 is $4M, with earlier in-service models ranging down to $1.3M for the oldest aircraft. Conversely, the CJ3+ new selling price is over $8M.

As certified by the OEM, the shorter fuselage version (CJ thru M2) has a typical range limit around 1300 NM with full fuel, and is limited to 2 passengers (530 Lb.) plus 1 pilot. The extended fuselage versions (CJ2 thru CJ3+) has a tanks-full range between 1550 and 1850 NM depending on model, with resultant payload 3-4 passengers (600 – 820 Lb.) plus I pilot.

The Raisbeck EPIC Package for the CJ thru M2 would provide an increase in their Full-fuel range by 340-470 NM AND simultaneously increase its payload by 600 Lb.

This will help in carrying the extra fuel/passengers, but has not been included in the current payload/range analysis and results, referenced above

Am I messing up model numbers or is the Mustang not included?

Mustang is a different type certificate - 510. This mod is focused on the model 525 all on the same TC.

The CJ/CJ1/CJ1+/M2 are all the same airframe.

So you can carry an extra 800 pounds of fuel and an extra 600 pounds of people. Can I buy stock in Raisbeck? :thumbup:

At the expense of TO runway distance, climb rate, and OEI performance I think. Those look like the downsides to this mod.

I am all about range over speed. This makes a big difference.

Yeah, but you still have the option of limiting what you carry, right? Who wouldn't want the GWI increase on their Bonanza. Much like this, the question is Who wants to pay for it? :D

My bad, I typed Mustang in the heading instead of M2!
