Took me about 30 seconds to load a flight plan on the B777 to go half way around the world. How long would it take you to load a flight plan to go half way around the world in a PC-12? Kind of doubt that it would be less than 30 seconds.

Alright wisenhymer, send me the readback and I'll time it. If your's is doing it automatically, that's different than manual entry.
Man asked about manual entry.

Here you go. Why don't you record the entry and put it on YouTube and I'll do the same (in the simulator, since I've retired from flying the line)

Dan,

Get a 441 with G600's/GTN's. Shoot your flight plan from your iPhone to the FS510 and be done with pushing buttons. Chill in a 6.3Psi cabin at FL350 with 2 Garrett's sipping 52gal/hr. at 290Kts while the chumps get tossed around in the soup. Just sayin';)

You have a full QWERTY keyboard in that 777? Because I figured it had a similar FMC to the 767 and there's no way I could have that entered in 30 seconds. . . and it'd take much longer in the C-17 (even without an airdrop or air refueling to load!)

Man I want to see those fingers work! Especially a light plan that integrates half latitudes!

Nope.

Do you guys really load flight plans? I never get what I file. I'll put the first waypoint into the FMS and that's it. 99% of the time, after take off, it's VECTORS then "Direct Destination".

Today on what should have been a short 20 min flight I had a full departure and 3 airways, and they made me fly them all. Hate flying in the northeast. dC airspace made 20 minutes 45 despite me blasting around at 250 Indicated.

I have found the speed of the mu2 makes having everything setup before wheels up a necessity. Too much of a distraction to be inputting stuff in the air!

The GTN750s are pretty darn fast at route entry. Not sure it could get a whole lot faster. Bummer u can't wire up a flightstream to the Apex suite.

Yeah, that's at home with a drink in
hand the night before. Just
load dep/arr airport and you're done. Then you get the expected route when it's filed and just load it from the phone. Piece of cake!
Oh wait, we also check winds aloft, turbulence and tops above FL280:)

Yes, you have to be ready before takeoff.

But, you don't have to go full route. Get the first 20 minutes/75 miles in the box. You will have time to add on once you get there and it will very likely change.
