Not looking so good. I also heard that the funding for the Canada is not available and new funding is being sought. Just rumors but from a decent source.

I was just on their website and noticed there havent been any updates since 2015. Given their history with the Kestrel, I wouldnt get too excited about much they do.
Lot of smoke and mirrors.

I hope that their problems are temporary but I have my doubts. Of course Textron and Embraer both laid off workers last fall. It appears that the VLJ market isn't doing very well.

The market is pretty slim for selling $3.3 million new 550s when you can get the exact same bird for under half this. That's the issue, they are competing with the used market. I also never really understood the prospects of the Kestrel. Spending $100 million ++ to certify it to launch a product in an already saturated market doesn't sound so appealing either.

There really aren't many early Eclipse birds left to upgrade and resell either anymore so this revenue source is pretty much dried up.

Can you survive selling parts and support? I hope so but I doubt it.

Awesome little plane and I miss mine dearly.

I made the same point to their CFO last summer when they refused to negotiate the timing of progress payments. I concluded they HAD to have my money. Not a good sign.

You're talking about Eclipse right?

I'm convinced any company that requires progress payments is undercapitalized.

Not yet, but it's a coming. I have that from a very good source too.

So I just got finished reading a 10 page article in Flying mag feb 2017 issue about the eclipse 550
Building one and a half planes a month and they are all spoken for it says
It also states eclipse has survived and thrived while other manufacturers have closed up shop.
Makes you wonder how true some of the stuff you read in mags really are
I better stick to the Wall Street journal

GE, Westinghouse, Caterpillar, etc require progress payments for many projects. You can't tell if a customer is really a customer otherwise.

On of the reasons J. Mac McClellan was let go at Flying was he wouldn't drink the Eclipse KoolAid.
Smart guy and good writer. Flying hasn't been the same without him.

Maybe so but I highly doubt when you buy a new Baron that you have to make progress payments. Probably not (I've never bought one) but you likely just show up with a check when its finished.

The little magazine gets thinner and thinner every month, sad.

Eclipse's problem is they have no value proposition.

Why would anyone buy this jet instead of a Citation Mustang? For virtually the same price, the Mustang is a far better aircraft, and far more 510s have been built. Cessna supports their products and have the power of Textron behind them. There's just no reason to buy this thing especially given the fits that this company has gone through.

I was stunned when the 550 announced... as in "Really?!"
