Awesome! Is this a regular occurrence? Seems like quite a few people with big cameras around for the show.

Flying brings the glee out in people. Young and old. No doubt about it. We are some lucky mofo's. Never forget that! When we plucked the the bikini wearing young lass off the beach and took her for a seaplane ride during my SES training you never saw such glee. (her...true we were gleeful too but I am talking about her in this case) Words like "i will remember this for the rest of my life" are quite rewarding.

Looks like 'Little Stars War' canyon over in the Owens MOA and dropping into the Panamint Valley and Saline Valley. There was a vulture's row on the south ridge where there were often campers and hikers it seemed. Glad to know some enjoyed the view.

Awesome! Used to ride my motorcycle there. Not that far from a certain restricted area over the ridge towards Nevada.....

About 6 years ago, I was flying one of my aerobatic monoplanes through the Ogden canyon. It is very narrow and is probably less than 1000 feet wide at the top and 300 feet at the bottom. The walls top out at about 7000 and the floor is about 4500. I was probably going about 230 MPH when an F16 goes by me about 200 feet to my starboard. I knew they usually fly in packs so I moved over to my left, very close to terra firma. Sure enough another comes by going about 500 MPH. I held my breath waiting and another goes by. I knew they had no idea I was there and at the speed they were going they could have never seen me. A couple of days later a friend asked me if that was me, flying the canyon with the F16s. I told him it was me, but there was no way I was "with" them.

Whew!!

It's not too hard to figure out when they're going to be using the low altitude training routes. It depends on the base, but a lot of the guard units do this on a regular basis, like 1st Saturday of the month or something when the unit has most of its personnel on the base. They use regular routes that are published, but not always displayed on the sectionals.
