I looked at a 700C2 today. WOW!! I know it's not the brand new shiny 900 that's getting all the press, but still a magnificent plane. Unfortunately, the 900 is way beyond my reach the C2 is doable. Really......flys not much different than the Bonanza........... Just 110 knots faster! Loads and loads of power, very stable platform and built like a tank!!!
I really do love the TNG36. I'm really going to miss the G1000 especially the GFC700. The C2 has steam gauges.............. took me a while to figure out what was what. They gave me a fair offer on the Bonanza?!? Called my banker.............. I'm in trouble!!

I dare not ride in one again until I've got the cash in the bank, lest I consider some 'creative' means to pay for one. How about some pictures?? I've seen earlier model TBMs retrofitted with G600 which would give you back your G1000 functionality for not a whole lot more on the price tag. Perhaps your bank would lend you the added funds to do it right away??? Maybe throw a GTN750 in there to boot????

Way to go Michael, you can do G600 and GTNs 750 for around $100k. Gives you the same capability as a G1000.

Looking into the G600 and GTN 750 as we speak. My wife's a pilot ........ she flew left seat. I needed to "hook" her. Seems to have worked once she got past the steam gauges. Functionality it has EFIS 40 now?!? Essentially the basic things the G1000 does......thus does the same....... just not as integrated. What a plane! Trying to pull it all together.......
Marc............ Thanks for all your help! Really appreciate your thoughts!

Michael, Your post is exactly why this site is so dangerous. I am also thinking a TBM 700 is a logical choice for my next plane. So been looking on controller and paying more than casual attention to the posts on the new 900. Now you have to add to my angst and are a clear and present danger to my bank account. Marc is also no help because I have always thought I would not want to give up the g1000/gfc700 for steam. His bold comment about a pair of 750s and g600 is nothing but classic "enabling" to guys like us. I started 4 years ago with buying and getting ppl in a $120k c172, ir in c182t with g1000 and then c206 with gfc700. Told my wife that this was last plane because each plane was roughly twice the cost of the last. Then I lied again (another classic expression of any true addiction) and told her we needed the current g36tn with tips and tks. Fortunately, a smaller hit to the wallet but noticeable nonetheless. Now, you come along and, with Marc's comment, seek to knowingly or unknowingly bring me into your dangerous pursuit. "Look Honey, others have done it!" Damn you... You and Marc... For enabling my addiction and potentially exposing my wallet to further damage! Mark PS. You gotta keep this thread going...

I bought a700 C2 last July and upgraded the panel with a G600, dual GTN 750's, and L3 trilogy. Although the Honeywell EFIS system is very nice that came stock and I wouldn't call it steam gauges. I also did remote transponders, remote audio, XM weather and radio.

Scott..... Who did your upgrade? I hear ya ..... EFIS 40........ not exactly steam. I was paraphrasing my bride. She has really become attached to the G1000.

Don,
Oldest plays football at PSU. We are flying all over Midwest sometimes at night, over rocks and with our lovely Midwest .... Ice. My daughter will be going to school probably on east coast. We just needed known ice, I wanted pressurization and of course speed is the addiction. TBM just seemed to fit. The C2 allows more full fuel payload that the A or B. I think around 800 pounds. I would love either the 850 or ( of course) the 900 but the acquisition cost are too high. TBM700C2 seems to be in my wheelhouse.

AVEX did the upgrade for me although there have been enough done now that AVEX, Columbia Air, or Socata North America could all do them. My plane was not RVSM so I also added a radar altimeter. I'm planning on doing the RVSM upgrade to the G600 this spring.
I have not flown a G1000 so I can't compare, I came from an Avidyne Meridian. But the G600 is great! A surprise to me was how much I like the GTN 750's. In the past I had Garmin 430's and really only used them for programming, not so much for the maps. The GTN's are amazing with the large screens and touch screens. I find myself using them more than the moving map on the G600.

Michael, I went with the 700C2 for the same reasons you mention. More payload than the B's and only slightly slower than the legacy 850's. I wanted range mainly, and I find 1100 nm is realistic unless the headwind is over 60 knots. 850 # payload with full fuel. I've flown about 220 hours since July and really like the plane. Of course an 850 legacy, or G1000 would be great, but the price differential is significant, especially for the G1000. Some guys have kept the EFIS 40 and done the GTN's and are very happy.
