We just upgrade my father-in-law's 1978 M20K. Boy she needed it. Turned out really nice. Going for some flight tests today.

James Wurman at General Avionics at West Houston (KIWS) did an excellent job. Thanks James!

Going to eBAY! 70 pounds of old equipment plus wiring. Probably going to net an increase of 40 pounds useful load.

Uh oh...where does all that stuff go?

Nice job. Those panel shots where all the wires are going crazy always scare me!

Did you consider the G500? Great economical plane, the 20K.

Did not as the six-pack was preferred by my father-in-law. Wanted to address main issue which was com/nav/gps, situational awareness, etc. Probably would have gone that route if it was mine.

I owned a 201 and later a 231. Panel space was always very limited whenever we contemplated any upgrades. LOOK AT ALL THE PANEL SPACE NOW.

The new Garmin product is ideal for this sort of panel.

He'll love the GTN width the remotes. I have that in mine and I'd install them in my next aircraft. Makes it so easy to flight plan and change things on the fly not to mention situational awareness.

Flew an RNAV WAAS approach today and it worked great. Also, traffic, radios, intercom, excellent. Glideslope captured.

Great idea to move the JPI over to the pilot's panel as well! Looks like a well executed upgrade.
