I have searched but not real good success , so here goes. Any recommendations on 2 place intercoms that would also attach to the Yaesu handheld?

I have an older PS Engineering portable intercom and aside from an easily repaired issue with the cords it works well in my non-electric taildragger.

This is their current model and unlike my old one it has automatic squelch:

There is one thing I don't like about the new one, it uses a 9v battery and that only provides about 10 hours of use. I wish it ran on a few AA batteries instead but the 9V does make it lighter.

I think any portable intercom will work, you will need a headset adapter for your portable and a push to talk switch is nice.

I have had good luck with the Sigtronics series battery intercoms. David clark or Bose but it did like having a pair of similar headsets to work. PS makes good units and should be fine also.
The others like Soft com and Flight Com were terrible. Sounded like someone had a sheet of galvanized steel and was shaking it every time you talked. Multiple units, headsets and different airplanes same result.

I have not tried it with the Yeasu handheld but Spruce sells an adapter for the radio to headset plugs which is what you will need for most battery intercoms.

A problem can be both headset mics are transmitting when some adapters are used unless the intercom has plugs for dual PTT switches.

Ditto on the Sigtonics. Not sure if there’s any better solution.

I've used one of these in my J3 for over 20 years. If it ever quits I'd buy another. I haven't had an issue with the "steel shaking sound" using a variety of headsets, but mostly DC.

Thanks for the replies. Just ordered sigtronics, and will be getting the antenna kit, did not know that was a thing.
