Probably posted before, but:

I was at Bihn Hoa (F-4 turnaround) a month or two after Michael Blasie, the Viet Nam unknown soldier who became known through DNA analysis, was shot down in an A-37 of the 8th SOS.

Of three or four rocket attacks, the only major aircraft loss was a fully fueled and loaded A-37 where the rocket came through a revetment opening. Burned to the ground but ordnance did not explode.

I never worked on the A-37 at Cessna, but researched it a bit for background for other projects. The wing to fuselage tank transfer system was quite a tangle of plumbing.

I thought they were mainly operated single-pilot; but having the observer during the FAC/A role is familiar in many operations.
I did not know that the type was still in operation anywhere in the world as the video stated at the end 'still in operation in 2024'.

Pretty sure I’ve posted this before but what the hell,
In 1969 I was back from my 2nd deployment and the skipper called me to say that my orders were in. He said Air Force exchange at England. I thought “ hot damn! Mildenhall RF-4s!” He says no, not THAT England, England AFB, Alexandria, LA. Come on in tomorrow, we’ll call the wing and find out their mission. A-37B training and SOS. I thought I’d been condemned.
Actually it was a great tour. The “thundersqueak” never broke. All we did was throw blue bombs and strafe the ranges at Fort Polk. A little training of VNAF pilots but mostly just our own flying.
About half the guys in the squadron were A-37 from Bien Hoa and the other half were thud drivers. We had some great happy hours. I learned that the AF is very top down and that all our AF jokes were also Navy jokes.
