It’s a great lesson in risk management and “this is what I want” vs “this is what I can reasonably achieve”. With a bit of negotiation he would likely have gotten a cash settlement of 1.5-2 million dollars. In 1995 that was real money! Instead all he was left with was a life lesson and unique story …

Doubtful. 2 million in 1995 earning a mere 5% annually would now be 7.5 million…
