The throttle is on the stick too! What could possibly go wrong?

Im not sure someone fully understands how the "slope of the hill" doesn't change once you're in cruise. Moving to a lower engine rpm is not quite what he expects, I think. This curve is informative http://www.fjr1300.info/chart.html
