I recently had a hangar rash event with my friends 1964 twin comanche. I am just sick to my stomach in that I damaged his beautiful aircraft. While pushing it back in the hangar I ran into the back of a golf cart I neglected to move out of the way and damaged the left aileron trailing edge.
I am requesting the help of the Beechtalk brain trust for their expert opinion on what it will take to repair. I know flight control surfaces cannot be patched, so I am guessing possibly a reskin? (if that is even done on twin comanche ailerons?) or will it be a replacement aileron? Salvage? or new? I have no idea of the realm of the possible and would like any experienced input.
Again I cannot convey the complete total crap feeling of hurting another friends aircraft. I am just sick about it. I wish it had happened to my Bonanza, that grief I could take. I am going to make it right, but don't really know the scope at this point. Thank you so much in advance to any that choose to reply.

I would send a picture to Heritage Aero who is the Comanche expert around here. IDK the proper edicate for mentioning non sponsor comapanies, so please look for the number via internet or Comanche flyer. They are in Rockford, Il. Also there is a Delphi Comanche forum that may be able to help. ( https://secure.delphiforums.com/n/login ... dirCnt%3d1)

I'm sorry for you wound.

Deason Aircraft at K81 could be another option.

Thanks Sammy. But I've got to agree with Robert; Don Deason is the guy to call. He probably has these in stock. It's not a problem to re-skin that one, and we can do that for you, but a good used exchange unit will be more economical and save downtime. Ask your hangar mate for paint codes, then call Deason.
Next up, but equally good, is Williams Airmotive. I think they are Airframe Components Inc now. Can't miss them with a Google search. And then there is Tim Talley. All great with these classic Pipers.
It happens. Glad you're owning it  It won't be as bad as you might think.

Great info. Thank you so very much. I’ll get in contact with these folks and go from there.

About 10 years ago, I come in the hangar to pull out the FBOs comanche, and it had a vertical 'bullet hole' through one of the ailerons. A straight vertical through and through. The odd thing was that the holes were beveled downward  Nobody remembered having engaged in any air-air combat involving the Comanche. Someone decided to look check the hangar and there was a row of long icicles underneath a seam in the roof  .

The fix was a salvage aileron. Enough Comanches get totaled after gear-ups that the salvage shops have good condition control surfaces on the shelf.
