Besides lack of pressurization. Any downsides?

I am specifically asking about straight Navajo, CR, and Chieftain.

Not as much of an aero plane as a Duke!

The only downside to a Navajo is that it is not a Beechcraft. Although it is the closest thing to a Beech to come from Piper.

My 310 Navajo was the beginning of my charter business. It was a good old bird.

2 big negatives, in a backhanded sort of way

1. Too much in demand, people want a lot of money for a good one

2. Too much utility so most of them are well-used

I recently bought a "C" model with the Panther conversion and 52 gal. nacile tanks. 242 total gallons when all six are full. It's an amazing airplane so far. Fill the tanks, seats, luggage compartments and go.

I never imagined myself owning anything other then a Beechcraft product but I'm extremely happy. I have a 81 model, one owner with 2180 TT and 480 on the conversion. I was very lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

Feel free to contact me and I'm happy to discuss

Rick

The flap computer is $14k and the older "computers" can't be overhauled. Apparently some part in there is made of unobtanium. I still want to tear one apart to see what is in it. ...still can't understand why the old one can't be overhauled.

Steers like an old Mack truck without power steering on the ground.

That and like Bob said there are some parts that are ridiculously expensive. We operate a -325 or "CR" and love it. 5+ me and lots of bags is a regular occurrence. We had a day recently where we had to go to 2 locations in one day. So we pulled our dry lease Seneca III. Boy, the crew that "had" to fly in the Seneca was sure glad to get back in the Navajo. Cabin class is not trivial...

Funny how these specialty items just kill your desire to own one. Nothing else quite like one. Hence the dilemna

Yep and make strong money. I've got one which is on permanent charter with a company and it blows me away the money they can make. That's why as above they hold value.

Send us a bad Flap Computer. $14K is strong money for simple electronics. We have experience with both the Cirrus and Cessna TTX systems as we designed them. The PA 31 should be easy

I know of a nice one soon to be available, straight 310, dual 430s. Not far from you.

PM if interested.

The navajo is a super airplane. Very confortable in the cabin and the cockpit. More room to move in the cockpit than a KA. Large cargo areas, so you can overstuff them, specially with the wing lockers. So you have to manage how much weight you put on them.
My only issue with them, is that I always felt that losing and engine would have been really really bad news. Hopefully never did.

Rgs,

Patrick.
