Anyone run into issues with "illegal" seatbelts in Pilatus PC12's?

We are doing the interior on a PC12/45 right now and they say the seatbelts have to be replaced because they were re-webbed by a shop that was not authorized by Pilatus.

What does "re-webbed" mean?

Means they sew new webbing/belts on existing buckles. Somewhat more cost effective than buying whole new assemblies when they start looking worn/stained.

So how would one know they were "re-webbed"?

If the shop that re-webbed them is an "authorized" re-webber (is that a word?), what does Pilatus have to say about it?

They have to have the correct tags. Some ramp checks find illegal seat belts.

Other than a log entry, or owner disclosed, I suppose you wouldn't know.

Here is who we have always used:

I've had my belts looked at by the FAA on two different occasions in two different a/c.. Both were asked and said they were looking for general condition and a readable TSO tag.. no readable tag, no fly.

just my .02

I suppose a seatbelt tag is "low hanging fruit" for an FAA inspector.

You're right, but should this be fruit at all? Is this important?
Grounding a plane due to unauthorized re-webbed seat belts seems crazy to me.

Totally crazy. So crazy I can't believe it's actually happened.

Apparently because the Pilatus has 16g seats, only a Schroth approved overhaul facility can re-web them.

If you buy a Pilatus, look at the tags and make sure they say either Schroth or C&M Marine, if they say anything else apparently they are illegal.

That seems like a pretty self-serving letter if I ever saw one! On what authority do they issue that "opinion"?

I would call BS.
