Just for fun here are some photos of my homebuilt project. It is a Sonex Onex single place. I am going to put a 100hp Rotax 912 in it instead of the VW conversion that usually goes in this plane. I am trying to build it as light as possible with minimum stuff. I am going to put a mini EFIS in when the time comes. I did as much as I could in the basement, and then I moved into one stall of the garage. I walled off my area so my wife would not hit things when she comes in the garage. For this airplane I insulated the garage and put in a gas heater. It is fantastic in the winter, warm as toast. All the big pieces are done, the outer (folding) wings and empennage are done, they just have to be assembled.

George, I give you all the credit in the world.....I love creating things with my own hands, and love airplanes, but combining the two holds no appeal to me. I guess it's the instant gratification thing, if I want to fly an airplane, I want to do it now!!

I'm glad there are folks like you that have the patience and passion to pursue these projects.

Great workmanship! My home-build project took a lot longer than originally forecast, and having a comfortable workshop definitely made the process more enjoyable. That said, maybe BECAUSE my workspace was comfortable it took longer? Sanding in 30 degree temperatures will motivate you to work more quickly than if it's a comfy 75 degrees!
