Six LTs, including my little brother, should have made Narsarquat today. I've gone across the Gulf a few times with him, but I'll bet he thinks of that life raft a little more with the colder water. I tried to get him to tape a sheath knife to his pretty little dash, but he wouldn't even consider it...even after I told him about those WW2 accidental inflations with pilots getting squished into the yoke/dash followed by the big splash. I hope I wasn't distracted while measuring/mixing the hysol...I may have to call him and mention that. Brotherly love. Attachment: image.jpeg

They are still westbound. Just north of central Mongolia and slight west of Angara River. I'm wondering if they can see Lake Baikal yet.

I had been asked to refrain from being too gabby about the trip, but just saw a press release from Doug King. It's an around the world trip, officially started in Oshkosh and concluding there on Monday. I could not make it this year and am missing his arrival. Proud of the little %#$@...he was the first out after reorganization and one of the guys that helped save the company. Can't say I loved working with carbon fiber or Hysol.

They couldn't land Adak, below approach minimums. Returned to Russia for fuel, then to Nome, now in Anchorage.

He got home to KHXF last night...2800 mile day. The official conclusion is at Air Venture this evening. No real problems, mechanically, on any of the 6 aircraft. They spent a bunch of time doing paperwork, especially in Russia. I think the aircrews will be naming their next child some variant of PT6A-67A(can't wait for this).

Around the world in 20 days and doing almost 1/2 of the trip trough Russia? Not much to see besides the airports.
