An Article on the new Evo by Piaggio. I wonder if they will fix most of the problems that customers had with the old Avanti airframe. Interested to see how the project will end up.

Sounds like a nice upgrade. I have always loved the Piaggio Avanti. One time I was able to sit inside the cabin and it was SPACIOUS.

Runway requirements are also spacious.
Pretty airplane, though.

Back in 2000 we had a P.180 Avanti operate from IWS on part 135 charter. It's only a 3953' runway. That's an impressive airplane, nearly 400 knots. Or, 100 knots faster than a king air with the same engines.

For me, this is the Bentley of the air. I'm hoping that in another 10 years the first generation P180's will be within my price range. Probably not, but it would be a dream.

Here's a link to the new Evo website:

This new airplane has caused the legacy model's prices to completely crash.
:bugeye:

You can get in a piaggio for less than a tbm now.

Is the parts problem really that bad?

I love this airplane - and the legacy PL21.
Italian Flight Check flies them. It would almost be worth wearing the airline style uniform :D
Maybe they have an exchange program!

In any case - - it would definitely be on my wish list if I had the means to own and operate such a machine.

There's a reason they're cheap. Service centers and parts are hard to come by. I tried hard to buy one before the Pilatus. Couldn't pull it together.

Yes it is! I have always had an eye on the Avanti, but acquisition and mx costs kept me away. IJSC in Tulsa works on them and they are a top notch shop. They may have fixed the parts problems. Hell of an airplane! RVSM and nearly 400 kts!

Thats alot of airplane for the money. There is plenty of time left on the engines, although the 12 year gear overhaul will get you next year. But even with that if its an overall good airframe that doesnt have toooo many problems, it could be a good deal.

Made the mistake of showing that thing to my wife & son. The only thing that saved me was a review I found with C&D data showing $1800/hr to operate…

Where would one go to learn more from actual operators?

I notice that is the only Avanti below $1MM. The rest are still up there.
