I've been reading this thread with interest -- thanks for all the info. Quick question for those that have actually flown in a P180. How's the headroom for a pilot? I'm 6'6" and with most of my height in the upper body. I currently fly a Citation Mustang and find it's one of the few jets/turboprops that I'm comfortable in. Prior to the Mustang I flew a 421C which also fit me. I also have a Cirrus which "just fits". Thanks.

The pilot's seats can be raised up and down and the seat back reclines. The rudder pedals are also adjustable. If you fit in a Cirrus you should fit fine in a P180. When I flew a Cirrus it seemed like my head was just below the headliner.

Brent I had a Mustang prior to my purchasing my Avanti. I am 5'10" and find that I have tons of room. I think even a tall guy like yourself will find it comfortable once you are actually in the seat. Getting in will be, uh, challenging....

I have a large friend - 6’4” maybe 265. He got in but it took us a very long time to get him out. I had to basically drag him out of the cockpit. Fortunately we made the decision to remove him from the cockpit pre-takeoff. Datz a big man!!!!

Username Protected wrote: https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/type/P180 The Avanti is incredibly strong and well built. The the main wings are machined by a computer-controlled mill from a single piece of aluminum. Forty percent of the aircraft’s structure is made from Kevlar, Nomex or graphite epoxy, etc.; the other sixty percent is made from pure aluminum. From the accident/incident list above, one ran out of fuel over Greenland and landed on a snow covered glacier. Two were damaged by high wind gusts while parked. Most other accidents were caused by gear problems, and faulty maintenance and pilot error (or pilot incompetence ).

Hope this phone scan is clear enough to show the main wing scavenged from a aluminum monolith... 90% of waste, but recycled! (how many beer cans? )
