Michael,
Is that a 1900nm leg? wow, impressive man. I did a 1650 the other day with not much tailwind, ended up being 6:25 but we brought lunch on board, much better than stopping. My wife had to fly back on the airlines and it took her 14 hours to get back home; best thing that could have happened. ;)

Here's a 1000nm trip loaded up to GTOW, 10 people and too many bags. Landed with 2 hours of fuel remaining.

I'm not sure what Flightaware registers, but I think sm is statute miles.

As for you pic there......geez, and I thought we travelled heavy.........you got my problems man :-)

.....and from the sounds of it, you're in the upgrade camp already........CJ3/4 or the Phenom300

All we need to do is wait another 6 months and we can even swap our PC12's for low hour CJ3's. Wait 1.5 years and we'll get a CJ4. I

I recall Textron touting their new turboprop single as being more comfortable for the pilot and co-pilot which insinuated that the PC-12 was uncomfortable. Is the PC-12 cockpit uncomfortable or tight in some way?

PC12 cockpit isn't really "less comfortable" than other planes I've flown. But I do wish it was more comfortable.

I've been flying a CJ3 lately and CJ3 just has more cushion in the seats. Which helps a lot.

Where's the PIREP on your CJ3 time? How about some details and pics.

You wont gain enough and you will lose too much capability by switching from TP to jet,

Unless you need to scratch that itch (jet). I wouldn't bother.

TP are the perfect owner flown aircraft.

It is an itch I want to scratch..... But doing the numbers it's really not a smart move for me. I still do lots of 250NM flights which the PC12 is great for. 30% of my flights are 1000+ NM flights which the jet would be faster for but the PC12 can still do.

The biggest issue is my PC12 is still worth what I paid for it or possibly a little more and I've put 1000 hours on it. The CJ3 I wanted when I bought my PC12 3 years ago was $6MM. Now, that same model year CJ3 with 1000 hours on it was just offered to me for $3.8MM..... and they're still dropping. Maybe I'll just do it when my plane and the CJ3 are the same price?

CJ3, CJ4, Phenom 300 will all be $3MM airplanes in the next few years. I see no reason to ever spend $7MM-$9MM on one. I can't stomach that kind of depreciation. There are just too many companies building single pilot jets nowadays.

Jason,
Leasing is a lot cheaper way to scratch the jet itch and you still keep the 12 for the short trips.

Finding someone to lease you their CJ3 is the hard part. I wouldn't lease my PC12 to anyone.

How about a Ultra? Should not be hard to find one of those. Still a 400+ kt airplane and a bigger cabin than the CJ3.

Plus there are a ton of CII rated pilots out there to fly with you till ya get a SPW.

Kinda fun having to pull back on the power to keep off redline at FL400.

Jason,
I agree a CJ3 lease might be hard to find but as you said when the market is flooded with all these jets it will put more pressure on owners to lease some out to make the loan payments. Probably more leases available for the Ultra and Encores.

Airplanes that fly a lot aren't for lease.

Where is it based?

Is a Type for an Ultra the same as for a CJ3? Or would I need to go back for another Type rating?
