That's not too bad at all Tony and one of the additional selling points of a SETP vs the jets you were considering. Most jets are going to require a great deal more dual time. You mentioned recurrent training in 6 months. Is that insurance mandated?

Well done Tony!
Wow!
I see you kept the timer function showing on your MFD. (Correction, PFD. you have the reversed version) Do you use it? Or was that just during training. I use the yoke mounted timer if/when I need one. Haven't yet except during training.
I removed it in my settings to declutter the bottom left of the screen a bit.
I also use a different wind setting. I like to see see the wind vectors depicted with arrows instead of H and X. Perhaps that's a G600 vs G500 setting....
I find myself glancing at it quite a bit on final and short final when there is a reported cross wind and I think my brain will "get" the arrows a nanosecond faster than the letters.... But then I'm wayyyyy older than you....

Awesome plane!
Nancy and my lottery plane..... as well as the Vision jet.....

Don,

I'm going to be in Orlando in April for a meeting during the week and decided I'd do a two day recurrent while I'm there over the weekend before going home. Not required but I think it will be helpful.

Luc,

You're older than me? You don't look like it...

I haven't made any adjustments to the G600 settings yet. I have made some to the 750's. I like the arrows on the wind vector myself. I haven't used the timer on the G600 but I did use it a lot on the G1000. I have a digital timer to the left of the MFD which I use during engine start. I've got about 15 hours of cross country flying to do next week so I'll have plenty of time to experiment with settings then.

This airplane is really becoming a game changer for me. As an example my wife and I just returned from a weekend visit to New England to see our two sons. We could not have made this trip in any other way than a fast personal airplane. We left on Friday and flew to Lawrence, MA to attend my younger son's Parents Weekend events at his boarding school on Saturday. Later that day the three of us flew to New Haven, CT to see his brother at Yale. After a great meal with both boys and some college friends of my older son we flew to Raleigh Durham today to deliver the younger boy to a visit at Duke. From there my wife and I flew home. Three days and nearly three thousand miles!

Very cool Tony. That's probably a trip you never would've thought of doing in the SR22. I think that's part of the reason most who upgrade to tprop or jet seem to always fly more hours vs less. More capability = more missions.

Tony,

Avex has one for sale right now from a TBM with a tag

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AM250-Altimeter ... SwuAVWukCP

Sounds like a cheapest way to do it.

Yes, it's incredible what unbridled travel can do and the doors it can open...........IF you can somewhat afford turbine capability, AND you run a business, get one, you will be amazed at two things:

1) turbines do not cost that much more than pistons to operate
2) your business will grow like a weed

Just saw this thread.
Congratulations Tony, looks like a great traveling machine.
turbine(s), pressurization and flight levels are game changers
I'm jealous of your true airspeed you've got over 30 knots on me

Tony,
Congratulations on a beautiful TBM. I had a 700C2 and loved it, but the legacy 850 is a real sweet spot. Especially with the upgraded avionics, prop, paint, and the pilot door.
It would be hard to do better than that.
I had a single G600 and did the RVSM upgrade unlock at $20k.
Frankly I didn't use it that much but if the previous owner already paid for the unlock it would be worth doing.

Scott

Tony! Don't know how I missed your original post, but somehow I did. Congratulations. That's quite a bird. I still haven't gotten through all the posts, but will. I'm glad you found what you wanted and it sounds like your sale and purchase went smoothly. :dancing:
Looking forward to hearing more about your using the bird and how much you enjoy it.

Thanks Scott! I wasn't sure about the pilot door. I've read complaints about it being colder and some have thought it a bit more snug. But after a month and 35 hours I like it a lot! It's easy to get in and out, you don't have to climb over pax or do the weird contortions you do in a Piper plus it allows a little air flow getting ready to start up on hot days. If faced with adding to a new plane order I don't know what I'd do, but what I paid for it (essentially nothing) is a great value.
