Easy, I fly 1200 nm routinely if headwinds are under 50 kts.

Do you feel the TBM can fly more missions greater than 800 non stop? I'm surprised the long range didn't favor the jet.

I chose the meridian as my trip length is often less than 600mn, the TBM consistently can take a 1000nm trip with most winds. They are fantastic, reliable aircraft, if that is what you need.

nice airplane, congratulations, once you go kerosene you never go back
but i do have one quirk

flew an 850 from dallas to oslo last summer via iqualit and iceland
i am 6' 6" and the base of the control column is very wide, very limited movement of your feet and seat could not be moved much aft
once arrived in oslo declined the return due to back discomfort from the sitting position

took 2 days of voltaren to get back in shape, maybe i am spoiled by the side stick in the evolution and the ability to even cross my legs if i need to

averaged easily 310-320 knots all the way thirstier than my evo where i burn 28 gal/hr

Hi Andes,
TBM owners, like us, have adjusted/cut carpet behind pilot and or co-pilots side removed the cabinet and can allow front seats to move back as far as necessary. Rails go from front of plane to the rear. Others taller than my son and I at 6'2" and 6'4" enjoy the room in the TBM unless they are really large otherwise.

Come try ours sometime. Evolution is a great plane we considered too. Sorry you were cramped. :cheers:

Like Chuck said, move that seat back!
Come sit in mine. Im 6'2" and I cant even touch the rudder pedals when my seat is all the way back.

Not a great deal considering the OH is $450k and the new owner will likely either be paying for it on his watch, or selling it at a substantial discount later because that new owner will have to pay for it.

I think you are saying 850 hrs to overhaul is worth a bigger discount. Where do you think it should be priced?

Is hanging a mid time PT6 an option on birds like this to keep them going, or is it a "special" PT6 model number and not widely available?

Interesting how things have changed over 25-30 yrs. I was asked to fill in for a 700 pilot on a private one and got 3 landings and a taxi in before I was cut loose alone. :-) :-) No other questions asked. Heck, first real flight was the first time I got to turn on the A/P.

Only flew it a few hours for the owner but it was a nice experience. I did have a couple small type ratings then however. I also got to fly the owner's PBY (right seat) for about 50 hrs.

TBMs rank high with me.
Of course, leaving out the original TBMs (Terrible Big Mothers) with the big radials that used to be used to drop fire retardant.

Nice looking airplane for the OP. Green with envy here.

Yep, sweet planes for sure just need to be aware of the cost to own one.

When I did my initial training the instructor told me as an FYI that I should plan on $150K a year to fly it 100-200 hours based on what other owners reported.

Flew right seat in a 900 to OSH a few weeks ago, and it absolutely spoiled me! Every aspect of that plane screams quality. Plus going 300+ true making that trip less than 3 hrs was amazing! We were taken care of by the TBMOwners group from the moment we landed until the day we departed. Nice being a part of that group if you have one. The TBM guys at the booth take care of you as well.

One thing I noticed is that the value of the older series stay relatively high. They were trying to sell my friend on going to the 910 or 930 the entire time and letting him know that they could have his 900 sold within a few days at a very reasonable # if he wanted to go that route.
