Of note for several of us who operate Avanti I airplanes, it only applies to the Avanti II and Evo, i.e. Proline 21 airplanes. (c) Applicability
This AD applies to Piaggio Aero Industries S.p.A. Model P-180 airplanes, serial number (S/N) 1002 and S/Ns 1105 through 3010 inclusive, certificated in any category. It also looks like they are giving 24 months or 660 hours to comply. Maybe Collins can get their act together by then.
I didn’t look closely - but it appears it was effective 10/22, 24 months up now…

I'm seriously considering buying a P180 with a home base in the NY area (KTEB, KHPN, KFRG, etc.). Would love to do this with a partner (either join someone who already owns one or buy one with someone else). Can also dry lease for X hours per year.
Any interest? Any insight on the best way to go about this? Currently own a DA62, so this will be a step up.
Thanks!

I don’t think so. We are just doing ours now.

Have not posted pics of Piaggio speed lately. It was a hot late summer in the flight levels. Things starting to cool down, and as a result, speed up Efficiency is staggering.

Impressive. My Evo is slower by 20 knots or so.

My airframe is a hair slower than Anthony's but... the breed is nicely efficient.

Well gents, I'm no longer an official member of the Piaggio gang.
From now on, Ill watch the thread in silence like a nerdy highschooler on the sidelines watching the cool kids be cool...while being stuck flying planes half as beautiful.

The three different altimeter readings are killing my OCD. Do you wave down to the Slowtations as you zip by them on your way up to FL390 at nearly 400KTS? The 370KTAS is impressive. ....but it is an Avanti.
Also, having been in the back quite a few times and in the pointy end a time or two, those are amazing aircraft and a lot quieter than I thought they would be. That sound when they are in the pattern, though, is like listening to a Stradivarius played by a master violinist - just beautiful!
