Natasha can pump my fuel any time. My only two questions were, what the heck is this beautiful 20 something doing working the FBO in Winnemucca?... and why the heck am I not Jason Crandall?

Actually she is awesome, she had just bought a PA20, is a member of the 99's, has her private and is working on her instrument and wants to be a crop duster. She won a women in aviation award for 15 hrs in a Pitts and would be learning acro. Her grandfather owned the FBO and passed away so her grandmother asked her to run it after she graduated university with a math and econ degree. Support that FBO for sure!

I love this aircraft, so stable and so easy to fly. Pure, cheap, joy.

As an interesting aside, the Cub is way harder to land smoothly.

Ale I considered many other tail draggers, but I really wanted tandem seating to be able to look out at the ground on both sides, and a stick. That ruled out the Maules and a bunch of others. I'm also 6'4" and don't fit well in a bunch of others including the Husky. The Champ just feels like it's built for tall guys like me. It really is fun to fly but I am jealous of the doors and windows being wide open like you have on the cub.

Adam does your plane have the adjustable front seat? If it doesn't you might want to consider changing it out as it will definitely give you a little more room.

No it does not but ordered the new adjustable seat from ACA already, as well as the new rear stick to make it work. I actually have ample room though with the fixed seat and it's also very comfortable. Here is the interior:

Very nice. To me, going to get a plane in a distant location and flying it home is an adventure that really adds something to the charm of owning the plane. I bought a 172 in North Carolina last month as a second plane....8+ hours later, fighting 20+ knot headwinds the whole way I finally made it home and loved every part of the flight. Cheers!

You can see what taildragger ownership does to one's "swagger".
Next he'll be saying "real pilot" this and "rudder skills" that.
Next thing will be intersection take offs and landing BETWEEN the runway and taxiway on the grass.
I like it. Good stuff.

 Get your aircraft info changed to reflect your new status. You will have to put it in your signature line because you cannot add another aircraft when you are a Mentor. Congrats, let the $40 hamburgers begin!

Adam,

Great looking plane in and out! I think you will like the new seat better. We had a partner in the SD I had who is your height. He could sit in the seat in either position but liked it better back. Didn't have to splay his legs out so wide.

I got out of the SD partnership but seeing your plane makes me want back in!

Have fun! :pilot:

Adam, what airport are you based out of in nor Cal? And where is Wannamuka? I want her to fuel my plane slowly! Nice looking ship, and that 42- is sweet ride. We will be having our annual fly in At CMA in April and I will post that date soon.
