There was a very nice TurbineAir at one of the booths in OSH this year but I can’t recall which booth (it was apparently for sale). I’m a big fan of all the Rocket conversions (jetprop, turbine Duke, TurbineAir). Those are all very well done conversions - well-engineered. Each has its trade offs but all great airplanes. I have considered a turbine duke from time to time for example …
One more note on the LX7 vs. Evolution that I meant to post: the LX7 has a recommended ceiling of 250 vs 280 on the Evolution, and the max pressure differential is 5.0 PSID on the LX7 (it’s higher on the Evo but I can’t recall what it is right now). That may well be important to some folks and to passenger comfort. I don’t think you can get RVSM certification on an experimental although if you could, the Evo would be a good candidate.
Cheers!

The only one I’ve ever been up close to was owned by Bob North, who also owned the Mt. Snow Airport in Vermont. When the winds were sufficient, he used to bring it down there, 2650’ of pavement. -dan

And I agree that the Evo is an excellent candidate, it's quite happy at FL 280 and could easily go higher.

the Epic LT has always been the one I like. roomy and fast. I got a ride on one to OSH years ago and it is great.
If I wanted to build a single engine turboprop that is what I would build 6 places. it is big enough so you can actually carry 4 normal adults and their stuff.
unfortunately that kit is not available any more.

Good news on the RVSM, Dave - thanks! Have you considered it for your Evo? Do you have a sense of how high you could go? What’s your cabin altitude at 280?
If you could fly the Evo to 310 or 320 that might be a nice addition to the toolkit… I didn’t ask the JMB folks about a future radar kit but I know they are adding one to the certified Epic 1000.
There are occasionally Epic LTs that come across controller but not that many of them were built. The certified Epic is a really nice airplane for sure. Cabin is VERY roomy and cockpit layout is excellent.
Cheers

Cabin altitude at 280 on my last trip was 7,400', so it should be reasonable in the low 30s. Quote: I didn’t ask the JMB folks about a future radar kit There's been a couple of Evos with radar added, but it ain't pretty Attachment: IMG_4823.jpg Attachment: IMG_4638.jpg All the Evo radar pod interest has come from overseas. Evo owners in the US have been content with NEXRAD.

Username Protected wrote: My mission will probably be changing in a year or so and I’m starting to look at other options. What are the pros and cons of a 4 seat turboprop? I see through past post that several of you have experience with these so would like your feedback. I would love to build my own but after making some calls last week there are not any kits available yet. I was told they were starting up again but could not give me a timeline. I called Lancair but I saw a RV with a turboprop as well. Any other brand I should research/recommended? Bryan, RV's and turbo props are not likely to be anything useful any time soon. As for an Evolution, I know there is one down here in Oz that is becoming available due to the recent death of the owner. Nice plane too. If that is of interest let me know and I will put you in contact with appropriate people.
