This year Jaden will become a private pilot. He helped finish an RV12 last year and will help complete a Rans S-21 this year.

Only 6 more sessions with our students this year. I’m canvassing tomorrow for student help over the summer to complete it for inspection. We have learned a lot this year and I don’t think it would be unreasonable to get our next airplane much closer to inspection within the school year.

Today marks the final day of working on the S-21 project at the school. The airplane pieces will be transported to Pecan Plantation for final assembly and inspection.

We moved the project for final assembly this afternoon.
We’ll get this thing put together and flown in short order.
It’s a labor of love and I look forward to getting started anew.

Where does the funding come from?

We actually got started with Eagle’s Nest Projects (Ernie Butcher) who funded our first 3 RV-12s. This Rans S-21 was funded by a generous donor that believed in our mentors and school staff to carry the program on in perpetuity.
Ernie told me that after about 3 years it would be difficult to keep solid mentors. We’ve been very fortunate with volunteers and student body.
