One more item I thought of-
IIRC the 310 didn't have the lower pressure constant on fuel pump that the later bigger engine ones did. Going high we would have to turn on the normal boost pump and relean to keep from getting surging by fluctuating fuel pressure. I noticed that the 350s had the lower pressure constant on pumps for this reason. If you look at that installation it sits in the wing root on each side. With careful analysis I saw that it would be a drop in fit (with one bracket to rivet in, factory part no less) and everything else would bolt right in. Took it to the Feds who (back then) waved their hand and blessed the installation. So if you're flying a 310 that has fluctuating fuel pressure as you go higher you might try that idea.

Also, the Weldon fuel pumps then were junk. I had them fail in less than 10 mins from new. They have metal to metal seal at the top of the brass pump body inside that was never machined very well and always leaked into the pump motor. I had to take new ones, disassemble them and put the body in a tooling lathe and machine the top of the brass to a true perpendicular surface to the pump axis in order to get them to seal.

Maintenance hop to check flap ops. We have been having issues with the flap computer detecting a split when one wasn't present. Replaced both flap potentiometers and re-calibrated. Seems to work good now. We are also going to get a junkyard computer and send it out to be rebuilt. That should put all the issues to rest. Had to cancel a flight last week because the flaps would not operate. Got stuck down, at about 25 degrees, during run up.

Just me in the plane, so I did some jabbering. Funny to listen to it afterwards, you could tell I was "working" something else while trying to explain. Heh...

My trips have been pretty regular lately, so nothing to report. This was a 5OVC morning and icey (you cant see the ice, except on the windshield a bit. The weather the destination was about 15OVC and only needed the approach to get down low enough to get below the deck. Winds were 50 degrees off my left at 17kts. Some split power and a little roll into the wind and all is well.

So...kind boring, but I will share it anyway.
