I'm noticing a trend......you may need some brushing up on the flying skills :duck:

It's nice to see they went with something else than the PT6. The segment needs another engine player. Probably will burn less fuel, as the PT6 isn't the most modern or fuel efficient design.

Will be interesting to see reliability. Pratt reports 1 shutdown per 370,000 hrs in their PT6. Nobody else claims that level of reliability. With a single engine plane, that engine reliability is going to be a big deal to future sales. If the actual rate of failure is 2, 3, 6 times higher, it will doom the airplane, until they re-engine it with a Pratt. Over 6 million hours of PC12 flight time without a single engine related fatal, perfect record with the Meridian as well. Going to be tough to convince a lot of people that the new engine is better because it burns $15/hr less jet A. Maybe it will be better, want to be the first one to fly it in Night IMC over the Rockies? ;)

That engine should probably start its test bed in something with 2 engines.... King Airs?

Adam, do you run book/torque numbers or if temp limited less than 780?

Keeping temps just under 780 at FL230 or 240. Trues out at 260-265.

Do you have the Pilatus App?

Interestingly enough, that's how I fly the bird, but Shane J. flies by torque, which in the heat, can push you over the 780 mark.

Jason, where do you fly?

Are you cruising at 285 Mike? I believe Jason is getting 268, but I've not seen any faster than that, ever.

many times, but not without a tailwind :-)

My numbers are almost identical to the App's except the torque and fuel flow, where I'm slightly lower (obviously when temp limited)........most times I'm taking off almost fully loaded.

I've got a flight on Wed I'll snap some pics. Typical load 5 SOB and 2,000 lbs fuel.

I was at the press conference this morning standing beside a guy from Pratt.
We got told $4.8m in 2016 dollars. Not sure how does this compare to PC12 but got told thats its over $5m with options.
Competition is always a good thing.

Lol are we back on this torque/780 thing again? Mine is on torque charts or what the app says. We keep laminated torque charts up front. Our NG is 760-765 all day when running on the charts. The app also gives you book speed, ours is +/-2knots. We see 260-265 in the summer, 265-270 in the winter. Our flying is mainly Houston to New Orleans, so it never really gets cold. Flying a northeast trip in the winter I'll see 275.

Ok me too. So where does 285 come from? if the Cessna does an honest 285 on less fuel, bigger cargo door, Garmin avionics, more comfortable pilot seats, and lower purchase price what's not to like? Pilatus killer.

Adam, the newer NG's have made a fair number of small changes to antenna placement, flush door handles that has increased the max speed on the newer birds.

I think that Cessna will do a fine job with their airplane and I'm really interested in seeing it. At 5MM they're in the same range as the new PC12's. As you know, the Pilatus was very, very well thought out.

As Adam F said, having engine competition is a very good thing. I think we'll see a 4,000 hr tbo for the -67P's if the Denali engine lives up to expectations.

Now I get it. 'Clean sheet design' means they put clean sheets of paper in the copier before they dropped a set of PC12 drawings in the document feeder.
