Recommend a call to Wetzel Aviation. They track the market very well. Had an enlightening call with Bryon earlier this week. Bottom line, need lots of patience. But boy is it an awesome plane.

Hey P180 owners, just found best stuff to clean props - isopropyl alcohol. Get the 91% at the local drug store, a roll of blue paper towels, saturate a towel and wipe on. After a moment and swipe or two it all just wipes off. Way less scrubbing effort than anything else I’ve tried (including SimpleGreen extreme or CarbonX).

Did this today. It’s FM. It worked so well it felt wrong. Kinda like being in 7th grade and seeing Playboy…

Thanks Jon. Awesome!

Dang, now you have me excited. I didn’t think anything would work better than Acetone. Will try alcohol next week.

My old Aerostar shop cleaned everything with 100LL. It was an amazing degreaser.

Yeah, but it is a lot less effective on synthetic turbine oil which I suspect your Aerostar did not see a lot of. The alcohol works well on it.

You can get 100% isopropyl in gallon jugs.

Its used to clean the resin prints on 3D resin printers...

You can get 4 gallons for $68.00 from Amazon.
Its an awesome cleaner I have it for the resin printers and use it to clean lots of stuff...

I was flying for the P180 type rating in Genoa yesterday. The training session ended normally with a single engine landing. I wanted to do an additional circuit to get more feel for the regular, two engine landing technique. As I touched down and tried to use reverse, only one light came on, so I didn't engage reverse in time and the plane was rolling. The exit taxiway was getting near and I used the brakes to make it. Effort on the pedals was high, braking action was weak. A few hundred meters down the taxiway a tire blew. The inner part of the brake assembly changed color to light brown. My plane is an Evo with carbon brakes and no anti-skid.

I hope this saves someone from doing the same mistake. It only takes two subsequent landings to blow a tire and lose $$$$ on an expensive brake assembly.

There are no fuse plugs on the wheels?

My Citation wheels have 3 fuse plugs per wheel. If the wheel gets too hot, they release the tire pressure before the tire blows from excessive heat.

Is this heat damage from the landing or dragging a brake after landing?

Two subsequent landings? Was this 3 landings in a row without sufficient time for the brakes to cool?

There are fuse plugs. Maybe the fuse plugs blew? Wouldn’t that result in deflated tire?

Yes, fuse plugs deflate the tire so they don't explode from overpressure caused by heat.

That strikes me as close enough to possibly be what Thomasz described.

One with single engine - no reverse because of single engine. Then one normal where the reverse did not light up for me and I used the brakes again. That is two landings without sufficient cooling. Plane was light. Two pilots and 1000lbs of fuel. I admit I was a bit spoilt coming from the Lear 75. It has the same brakes as a Challenger 300, which is nearly twice as heavy. One could ride them all day.

The tire did not explode. It deflated and partly came off the rim. I don't know yet if it was because of dragging or thermal fuse. I will know tomorrow. I expect thermal fuse.

A new wheel is Eur 70k, a new brake is close to 100K.
A kilo of gold is 60k. Wonder what they're made of :)

I said I want to change to the steel brakes. Lead time is 1,5 years. Very funny.

Oof. I thought the Evo came with the steel brakes? What year did they switch?
