I was blown away by what I picked up watching someone else do in a sim. When it's not you under the hot lamp you pick up a lot more I find.

I believe what you were looking for is:
121.481(f) No pilot may fly as a member of a crew more than 1,000 hours during any 12-calendar-month period.

I have followed this thread with interest. I was recently approached by an acquaintance who has a Cessna Mustang. On his own property he has a private paved runway with a beautiful hangar. He wants me to sell my TBM and split the costs on his mustang. Hangar and runway maintenance will be free. I only pay for my fuel and half of expenses. Sounds like a great opportunity to get into a jet. But......the reality is the mustang gives me very little increase in performance for the majority of my missions. Altitude FL410 would have been helpful a couple times. Range is less than the TBM. My wife and I would both need type ratings. I think I'm staying with the TBM?

Wait... you sell your TBM for 1.8m+, pocket/invest that and then only pay fuel and half mx on the jet? Your ROI on invested capital for what you sell the TBM for will cover your expenses on the jet. No brainer... assuming you won't have scheduling headaches.

Everyone’s mission is different, so range is yours to deal with.

Go fly in the Mustang for a trip or two if you haven’t, then consider your options.

From memory on my first flight I was just past V2 when I had decided ;)

In my mind it literally comes down to, "Do you and your wife want to fly a jet?" If its the next thing for fun/challenge and it keeps you both interested in aviation, then yes. If not, no.

My personality does not really lend itself to a partnership. I would rather have less airplane, but one that is sitting there ready to go 24/7 when I want to fly it. Further, if that airplane I was going to own alone was a TBM? I think I would keep what I had. There is a pretty good argument to be made that you are sitting on the top of the world right now. YMMV.

What are the dimensions of the runway?

When I had my Bonanza a TBM salesman called on me trying to get me to buy into a fractional TBM program called FAST. He wanted 3 owners and TBM would ferry the plane between us blah blah.

Long story short..... I'll never forget the salesman telling me... "hell, I'd rather have my own Bonanza than split a TBM". So, he talked me right out of it.

I had a plane partnership, just not for me. I agree with that statement

Problem is you’ve just added ~$250 airplane dollars to the illusive, but ever present, $1.3 Phenom 100.
